My Father passed away in May of 2007. He was in the Marine Corps for 28 years and was buried in Arlington National Cemetery. Last Christmas, my Mother decided that she wanted to get a grave blanket to put on his grave. She lives in California and ordered one from a florist in Arlington. I live in Virginia and went to the cemetery to deliver a wreath and take pictures of the grave blanket for my Mother. I was very disappointed! It was very small and she had paid a lot of money for it. I told her that I would try to find a nicer one this Christmas.
I spent hours on the internet looking for someplace local but was unsuccessful. I somehow happened on the Warm Gestures website. The grave blankets in the pictures were beautiful and really big! I knew that one of Kathy's blankets was exactly what we wanted....but wasn't sure that she would be able to ship something that big to Virginia! I emailed her and asked her if she could ship it to me and what the cost would be. She replied to my email within minutes! She told me that not only could she ship...and at a reasonable price...but she could have it to me in two days. I called her a few days later to discuss the different choices. I loved the blanket with the giant red roses but didn't see one with a plaid bow. Kathy told me that she didn't have any plaid bows. The next day, she called and told me that she found that she had red and green plaid ribbon and that she had made a bow. The blanket arrived in beautiful shape and was gorgeous! It was the exact size that we wanted. I added some small flags and gold poinsettias.
On Dec. 13, my husband and I drove up to Arlington to place the blanket on my Father's grave. That was the day that 10,000 wreaths were brought from Maine by the Worcester Wreath Company to place on the graves at Arlington. My Mother and brother were there from California to see the wreath laying and to help us with the grave blanket. My Mother was really happy with the blanket! It was just what she wanted and I know that we will be getting one from Kathy every Christmas.
Kathy takes a personal interest in the blankets that she makes. It is obvious after talking to her that she takes pride in each one that she makes. I highly recommend her to anyone thinking of buying a grave blanket for a loved one's gravesite....even if you are not local to her in Michigan! I am very grateful to have found someone as caring and conscientious as Kathy.
Kathy. thanks so much for your help and we will be in touch with you next year!
